Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation is a non-invasive and non-pharmacologic treatment that uses magnetic pulses to stimulate areas of the brain that are underactive in depression.

TMS is a safe and effective treatment that has been FDA approved for Treatment Resistant Depression (TRD) for over a decade and can provide relief for depressive symptoms when other therapies have not been effective. TMS is not another medication and works differently from medications you have tried. It works by using gentle, magnetic tapping to stimulate an area of the brain that can be under active in depressed patients. This helps the brain to work more normally. TMS is overall well tolerated and most patient have minimal side effects and are able to maintain their normal activities during treatment. The treatments take 19 minutes daily with no down time and can fit into your daytime schedule.
Patients will have an individualized treatment plan that includes TMS treatment 5 days per week for 6-8 weeks along with medications and therapy when appropriate.
